Horath and Drulingen share the production for a construction project.
In November 2002, Horath joined the Sotralentz group. Horath and Drulingen have worked together since 2000, their complementary nature for the supply of wire mesh has gradually been confirmed. Today, this acquisition allows the Construction activity of the Sotralentz group to increase its production capacity and to contribute to the development of new markets.

What are the necessary ingredients to be able to share the production of a construction project between two sites ?
Karl Burkardt : It is necessary to have a common management policy, close proximity between the key personnel of the two production sites and sincere respect for each other's know-how. Our assets are our complementarity in terms of manufacturing and the cultural proximity of our personnel : we are both situated in rural areas! Thanks to the organization of periodic meetings between personnel from both sites, communication becomes more and more fluent and regular.

How many contacts are made available for the customer ?
Karl Burkardt : The commercial team is made up out of : 11 people who work both for Horath and Drulingen. They are operational on a European level and all employees are at least bilingual. Each customer's oder is managed through a sales engineer and a production manager : therefor the customer is capable of following up his order at all times.

Which project brought you together for the first time?
Jean-Jacques Muller : It is a company specialized in the manufacturing of pre-fabricated concrete parts for the building industry and civil engineering (see insert), a loyal customer from Sotralentz Construction. The first pre-cast segments were designed about 20 years ago in collaboration with this customer (see website: sotralentz.com, construction/our products).

What type of product does it concern and how is the work divided up ?
Jean-Jacques Muller: It concern 650 tonnes of pre-cast segments. All the wire mesh is produced at the site of Drulingen. Horath runs the assembling work because of the space required and also to train their work teams. Before the partnership took place the assembling wassometimes subcontracted to local partners. This new organization allows a global view of the work and better control of costs and deadlines.

It is a first experience. There certainly must be things that need to be adjusted, which ones ?
Jean-Jacques Muller: Today, we already have the guarantee that we will be able to repeat this, the collaboration was a real succes ! This experience will help us with our development on the German market and it is also an opening to more highly specialized markets, which until now usually were dealt with in France. This increase in production capacity opens up new commercial horizons and inspires our new strategy…
