Sotralentz Habitat hows to take a standard product up-market.
How to take a standard product up-market, a challenge taken up by the Sotralentz Research and Development Centre team.
Catch pans are about to enter the single wall fuel tank range. SotralentzHabitat offers a wide range of plastic domestic fuel tanks for above-ground storage and for non-public buildings. Last year, Sotralentz developed a new type of polyethylene fuel tank with a built-in overflow pan: 'EuroLentz Confort' and 'EuroLentz Confort Basic' tanks.
This new range has been very successful with clients but does not allow us to meet all customer requirements.
So in order to optimize this range, the Research and Development Centre has taken up the challenge to have 3 Sotralentz divisions work together:
• Sotralentz Industry: bending, welding and painting sheet metal,
• Sotralentz Construction: manufacture of steel wire handling and stacking handles,
• SotralentzHabitat: for marketing and commercial development.
Thus the new steel catch pan was made. Steel was used because of its incombustibility and its high resistance to impacts. The catch pan will be available in three formats and adaptable to around 80% of the ranges of above-ground single-wall fuel tanks on the market.
People are at the centre of our business plan and are part of all our developments:
• Lightening the weight was one of our major concerns and led us to the use of steel sheets that are thinner (1.5 mm) than standard ones. This type of steel sheet lightens considerably the weight of the pan and reduces the handling loads for the person doing the installation (heating engineer or private individual).
• It will be the first stackable steel pan to facilitate storage and of course to reduce transport costs.
