On 2 and 3 March, six people currently working at SMI under a GEIQ Indus Alsace contract will take a CQPM in Industrial Welder.
These people, initially looking for employment, have received complete training in welding at ITC.
This involves theoretical and practical training in several welding procedures, with the aim of teaching them a trade: that of welder.
In total, their 525 hours of training are spread across one year. This follows a pre-qualification
financed by the Alsace Region, the European Social Fund, and Sotralentz Métal Industrie.
The CQPM is the Certificat de Qualification Paritaire de la Métallurgie (certificate of joint qualification in metallurgy), which represents a nationally recognised certification within the industry.
They will take an exam comprising 3 hours of theory tests, then 8 hours of practical tests.
An independent ITC jury composed of professionals will meet to mark the individual results.
A deliberating panel will then meet on 17 March at the UIMM Bas- Rhin in ECKBOLSHEIM, to decide whether or not to award the CQPMs.
