The Germans win on penalties
Every year, employees of Ets Sotralentz who are active football players in different clubs organise a tournament for the Sotralentz challenge cup.
If the trophy is won three times in succession it becomes the property of the winner. In hot, dry weather, 85 players participated over the weekend on the Berg pitch. They were divided into 10 teams, as follows: Sotralentz Metal Industries (SMI), Secofab 2, Packaging 1, Drahwerk Horath (DWH) 1 and Drahtwerk 2, these two teams coming from Horath in the Trier region of Germany where Sotralentz has a branch, Secofab 3, SMI 2, Secofab 1, Packaging 2, Construction, DWH 2. There were 23 games between the teams in the form of 7-a-side, which also reduced match times. The clashes were taken seriously, but in the best spirit of camaraderie. The final was played out between the German team DWH 1 and that of Secofab 1, who ended normal time with the score at 1-1. Penalties saw DWH 1 emerge victorious 3-2. The Germans therefore take the cup back with them, and it will be up for grabs again in 2009.
